- About Us
The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that all food being served on campus is safe, and adheres to the guidelines and recommendations of the Middlesex London Health Unit (MLHU). These guidelines pertain to events such as charity fundraising, retirements, showers and staff recognition events. They include but are not limited to, bake sales, barbeques, potlucks, etc.
Any campus organization wishing to host an event where food (not catered by Hospitality Services) is to be served, is required to notify Hospitality Services, in writing, thirty (30) days prior to the planned event. Application forms are available here. Depending on the type of food being served, the host may be directed to the MLHU to apply for a permit.
Hospitality Services reserves the right to contact the MLHU to request an inspection of any such food event on campus.
In order to ensure products for all barbeques meet Food Safety code requirements, all meats must be ordered through Hospitality Services. To order these products, please contact the Hospitality Services Food Safety/Health & Safety Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 519 661-2111 Ext. 85634.
Arrangements must be made a minimum of 10 days prior to the event. Items ordered from Hospitality Services will be charged to the organizing group at cost. It will be the responsibility of the organizing group to make arrangements for pickup of items ordered.
All host organizations must comply with the MLHU standards for food handling, temperature control, hand washing and facility sanitation. Guidelines and proper internal cooking temperatures are available at www.healthunit.com/food-safety-resource-materials.
Hospitality Services, along with MLHU, may remain in a supportive role throughout the event to ensure that the food being served is safe for consumption.
