Welcome to all of our new staff and a huge welcome back to all our returning staff!
I hope everyone had a great summer and that you enjoyed some relaxing time with friends and family. I look forward to getting to know some of the new faces in Hospitality Services - and, of course, it's always great to catch up with the returning team, as another school year gets underway.
September is here... and all the excitement and energy that this brings to our operations. We've certainly had a busy summer this year especially with all of our projects. Our largest residence, Saugeen, underwent an incredible $3.5 million renovation - you'll never recognize the place! The servery and dining room were both totally gutted and a trendy, exciting new facility has emerged. Stay tuned for info about the planned Open House.
Quotes Café in Weldon Library is no more. Instead, "something new is brewing" in Weldon - the Argo Tea Café!!! We are the first Argo Tea concept in Canada, opening on Mon. Sept. 12th. Argo features tea-based signature drinks, made of 100% natural, real ingredients. Great burritos can now be had at Lucy's new concept, Quesada - in the old Quizno's location. Talbot College received a much needed face lift and will now showcase a hot breakfast program and Noodles pasta bar, along with the refreshed Pizza Pizza.
On September 19th, we'll be introducing HANGRY at Lucy's and UCC Subway. What is it? It's an app that students can use to preorder and prepay for their food using their credit card or meal plan (coming soon). There will be specific pick up areas in both locations so users get to bypass the lineups.
Our Great Hall Catering team is now in the bee business. Back in June, they brought 500,000 honey bees to campus. The new hives are located in a secluded area near the North Campus Building. GHC honey will be used in the kitchen, served with coffee & tea, and will able be available for purchase.
The Campus Meal Plan office has relocated to Lambton Hall (Room 150). This provides some much needed space to expand the Unit Manager's office to include a small training centre.
Before you know it, September will once again be a blur! I love the enthusiasm and energy the students bring and how it affects us all!
Please make all of our guests feel welcome - in particular, our first-year students, many of who are away from home for the first time. Be patient, explain the process, offer to help and... smile! You make a difference in their day.
